HTAF’s Participation in the Medical Tourism Forum Organized by JKCI to Mark Its 10th Anniversary – August 15, 2025
As part of the celebrations to mark its 10th anniversary, the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) organized a Medical Tourism Forum aimed at highlighting the role of specialized health services in promoting economic growth and positioning Tanzania as a regional hub for advanced medical care. The Heart Team Africa Foundation (HTAF) was among the key participants in the forum. HTAF has been a vital partner to JKCI in supporting patients with heart conditions, especially children in need of life-saving cardiac surgeries. During the forum, HTAF showcased its contributions in promoting awareness about medical tourism and mobilizing resources to fund treatment for underprivileged children. The foundation also emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between public institutions and private stakeholders in strengthening Tanzania’s healthcare system and expanding access to quality services. The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including health professionals, development partners, investors, and government representatives. Together, they acknowledged JKCI’s remarkable achievements over the past decade — particularly in reducing the need for outbound medical referrals and attracting international patients to Tanzania for specialized cardiac care.
